Scam Alert: Protect Yourself from Gift Card Fraud This Holiday Season!
As the holiday season approaches, be cautious of scams targeting gift cards! Fraudsters may try to trick you into purchasing gift cards and sharing the card numbers with them, leading to “card draining” where your funds are stolen instantly.
Here are some tips to avoid falling victim to Gift Card Fraud:
- Don’t Share: Never share gift card numbers or PINs with anyone you don’t trust.
- Verify Requests: If someone asks you to buy gift cards for them, verify their identity through another channel.
- Be Wary of Impersonators: Scammers often impersonate businesses or even friends—always double-check!
- Shop Wisely: Purchase gift cards from reputable retailers, and avoid buying them from third-party sellers.
