Security Updates & Sweeps 1820 1024 GladiusIT

Happy New Year, everyone!

Did you know: The top three likely-to-occur threats to your organization based on threat intelligence are (in this order):

  • Phishing/Social Engineering
  • Compromised Credentials
  • System Exploits/Legacy Protocol Attacks (Updates!)

Now you know!

This month, I have two important updates to share with you:

  1. Critical Windows Security Update This Weekend
Microsoft has released a critical security update (KB5050009) that addresses a severe vulnerability in Windows systems. This isn’t just another patch – it received a 9.8 out of 10 risk rating, making it one of the most serious fixes we’ve seen recently. The vulnerability could allow unauthorized remote access to company systems without any user interaction – definitely not something we want to leave unaddressed! We’ll be rolling out this update during the weekend to ensure your systems stay protected. If you have any critical operations that require server access this weekend, please let us know immediately so we can schedule around them. Your security is our priority, but we also want to minimize any impact on your operations.
  2. 2025 Compliance Security Sweep
As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest security standards, we’re conducting a comprehensive security sweep across all client systems. This includes phasing out shared login accounts (global admins) and implementing stricter access controls and accountability. We’ll be reviewing and standardizing security groups, access policies, and update management across all servers to ensure consistent protection and accountability for everyone. Total time will be no more than 2 hours. This will not require any down time.
These changes are part of our proactive approach to security and compliance. We’ll work with each of you individually to ensure a smooth transition that doesn’t disrupt your operations in any way.

Remember – let us know about any weekend scheduling constraints for the security update rollout. Otherwise, we’ll take care of everything to keep your systems safe and secure.

Have a fantastic start to 2025!
