Everyone:
Remember when no one had even heard of ransomware and a silly fad called Bitcoin was $200? Ah, 2015…simpler times. Well, just like those relics of the past, Windows 10 is also heading for retirement. Support for Windows 10 officially ends on October 14, 2025. After that date, any Windows 10 PC will not be supported by Microsoft and will become vulnerable to cyberattacks and malware. That means they will stop providing security updates, bug fixes, and any technical support, meaning new vulnerabilities discovered after that date will remain unpatched, leaving your system exposed. Microsoft strongly recommends upgrading to Windows 11, and so do we.
Now, for companies maintaining CMMC Level 2 compliance (or any organization in a regulated industry with strict cybersecurity rules), this vulnerability train can be a problem. Running unsupported Windows 10 after October 14, 2025, is like inviting cyber trouble into your business. It directly contradicts the core principles of CMMC, which prioritizes protecting sensitive information. While a failed CMMC audit IS a serious consequence, the real danger is the increased risk of a data breach or cyberattack due to the unpatched vulnerabilities of an end-of-life operating system. These organizations must jump off the Windows 10 train and onto the Windows 11 express before October 14, 2025, to mitigate these security risks and also maintain compliance. Don’t get run over – start planning your Windows 11 upgrade now!
To help you get started, we will provide you with a comprehensive list of all workstations and devices in your environment that are still running Windows 10 within the next week – and how many can actually be upgraded – not all can (or should be, considering their age). This will allow you to quickly identify the machines that require attention and begin planning your upgrade strategy.
Thanks again – we’ll be talking soon!
