Keep M1 Email Working After a Microsoft Change

Keep M1 Email Working After a Microsoft Change 1376 768 GladiusIT

We want to give you a heads-up about a change Microsoft is making that could affect how M1 sends email on your behalf, such as invoices, purchase orders, and reports.

What’s changing

Microsoft is retiring an older piece of technology called Exchange Web Services, which some M1 systems use to send email through Office 365. Starting October 1, 2026, Microsoft will begin blocking this technology unless a small setting is turned on ahead of time. The final cutoff is April 1, 2027, after which there are no exceptions.

Who this affects

This only applies if your M1 system sends email using the Office 365 email option. If you use an on-premises Exchange server, the Outlook desktop option, or Gmail for M1 email, this change does not affect you.

What happens if no action is taken

If the setting isn’t turned on in time, email sent from M1, including invoices and purchase orders, could simply stop going out starting in October, with no error message to alert you.

What we’re doing

GladiusIT is reviewing which of our clients use M1’s Office 365 email option so we can make this change for you before the deadline. The fix itself is quick, a one-time setting change in your Microsoft 365 environment, and does not require anything from your team.

What we need from you

To make sure we don’t miss anyone, please reply to this email and let us know whether M1 sends email through Office 365 in your environment. If you’re not sure, that’s fine, just let us know and we’ll check for you.

We’re aiming to have this resolved well before the August 31, 2026 deadline to avoid any disruption. If you have questions, reach out to your usual GladiusIT contact.
